27 Nov With A Little Help Attends Seasons of Hope Luncheon
Marcia Ives, owner of With A Little Help, and Shawn D’Amelio, Director of Business Development, joined 45 other table captains in support of EvergreenHealth Foundation’s Seasons of Hope Fundraising Luncheon this month. The annual event raises money for The Gene and Irene Wockner Hospice Center in Kirkland as well as Complementary Therapies, Uncompensated Care and support services for Hospice and Palliative Care offered through EvergreenHeath.
The luncheon is the primary event supporting EvergreenHealth’s Hospice and Palliative Care services according to Christie Elliott, Director of Special Events and Corporate Relations for the Foundation. Generating $116,00 “it was our most successful luncheon yet, up 13% from last year,” she remarked. Donations and sponsorship meet critical needs. EvergreenHealth serves nearly 450 patients and families each day in all areas of King and Snohomish Counties, according to Elliot. “Services are provided 365 days a year with 24-hour call coverage for emergencies any time of the day or night. The hospice staff care for patients in private homes, assisted living facilities, adult family homes, skilled nursing facilities, and hospitals. In addition, EvergreenHealth Hospice operates the only free standing Hospice Care Center in King and Snohomish Counties,” she explained.
Teepa Snow, a leading educator on dementia, delivered the keynote address. Mark Wright, Morning Anchor for King 5 News, emceed opening with welcoming remarks and closing with a call to action. Attendees learned about special care EvergreenHealth offers hospice patients. Two dog/handler teams who are part of the Pet Partners program and volunteers with EvergreenHealth Hospice were on hand to welcome guests to the event.
The EvergreenHealth Foundation was established in 1991 as philanthropic support for the Gene and Irene Wockner Hospice Center. The Foundation mission expanded in 1999 raising funds for all departments and programs of the EvergreenHealth family of services. The Seasons of Hope Luncheon is one of four large philanthropic annual events put on by the Foundation.
