The advantages of choosing a home care company like With A Little Help are many. The monetary cost of hiring a private caregiver can be very attractive, but the burden of time in interviewing, doing background checks and checking employment history to ensure that you have found a trustworthy person is not to be underestimated and is extremely important! The legalities of dealing with payroll taxes need to be considered along with coverage should a work related injury occur while in your home. By choosing With A Little Help you are ensuring you have a trustworthy and caring professional in your home. We also make sure you still get the care you need if our caregiver is sick or on vacation.
With a Little Help takes pride in the education we provide to our staff. Our caregivers are certified by the state of Washington (typically certified nursing assistants or home care aides) and most have additional trainings, certifications and experience. We provide free and unlimited on-line continuing education as well as free quarterly in-person trainings and an annual two day care conference with a full line-up of speakers and classes related to caregiving.
In addition to training, we take our hiring process very seriously and work hard to hire stellar, reliable caregivers. We have an extensive screening process that includes phone and in-person interviews, calls to references and prior employers, a national criminal background check and a driving history report. We then spend time getting to know each new caregiver during our extensive orientation process.
With a Little Help draws its dedicated and reliable caregivers from a variety of backgrounds that have a passion for helping people. We provide a warm and supportive work environment which has led to low attrition and an average caregiver tenure of three and half years.
Our intent is to find a caregiver who will establish a warm and respectful relationship with you. Once we have you set up on a regular schedule, you should have the same caregiver or team of caregivers every visit, however, we can’t guarantee it. Caregivers do go on vacation and if, for any reason, your regular caregiver(s) cannot fill an assigned shift, we will do everything we can to provide you with an appropriate substitute. Making sure that a qualified caregiver is at your door when promised is our commitment to you.
Yes. Fluency in both written and spoken English is a requirement for all caregivers and we test to be certain. Caregivers who drive on behalf of a client are required to have a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and a verified good driving record.
We place great emphasis on building and maintaining relationships between our caregivers and clients. The kind things seniors, their families and professionals say about our care is our greatest reward at With a Little Help. We think our clients are the best!
